If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, Top Crop Manager is looking for an experienced editor to drive the technical content for this premier agriculture brand that our audience has come to expect from us. We cover topics such as crop production, plant breeding, fertility and nutrients, R&D to technology, market trends and business management and of course, all things in between. We reach our audience through print, websites, enewsletters, podcasts, social media, video, and our own series of live and virtual events. You will also get to be part of a larger agriculture team that collaborates on innovative projects and supports each other as needed.

What you will do:

  • Embed yourself in the industry to ensure our readers are in the know when it comes to industry news, business and trends, forward thinking brands and sector experts, products/technology and industry happenings.
  • Develop products around industry-leading content, choosing the best platform to make these “must-read” brands.
  • Partner with freelance writers and industry contributors, edit copy from industry experts, and ensure the quality and timeliness of print and digital content.
  • Drive our digital products, including websites, e-news, social media, video, webinars, podcasts and more in our quest to reach our audience wherever they are.
  • Host and attend industry events (live and virtual) to better connect with your audience.
  • Help create content and marketing around existing and new conferences.
  • Build and foster relationships with industry associations and partners.
  • Innovate and act on emerging trends and needs within the media world and new technologies in agriculture.

What the ideal Annex candidate looks like:

  • In addition to a degree/diploma in journalism or related field, you have five or more years’ experience in editing, writing or journalism.
  • Experience covering technical research or business sectors is an asset.
  • Proven comfort with all forms of media communication, including print, websites, video, podcasts and social media.
  • A valid driver’s license and enthusiasm for limited travel within and outside of Canada.
  • Ability to work together to achieve the best results and proven can do/will do attitude. You take ownership over all you do.
  • Great organizational abilities, as well as strong computer skills.
  • Track record of going above and beyond to deliver the unexpected.
  • Ability to adapt in a constantly evolving media business, with a shining work ethic.
  • Capable of working remotely from a home office as well as in one of our office locations as required.
  • You have an interest in farming (ag background is an asset, but not required).
